me conté.

A perverse heart causes sorrow but the man of experience gives him what he deserves.

One Sunday afternoon, in the kitchen, I decided to count the years
that I had been living: me, drawing very strongly each date
on my wrist, one, two, three, until fourteen.
As if the centimetres knew maths, as if cutting
the distance between the ground and my veins would multiply
my pride’s ability.
A declaratory gesture: fourteen escape routes, equal to fourteen
more decilitres of confidence overflowing in my glass arms.
On my wrist, I applied techniques assimilated at the technology classes:
Square and bevel, cut to cut perpendicular to each blue line.
With a knife,
I counted myself
up to fourteen years.

My forehead is the page of a horror novel:
mountain rages in rustic,
bibliographical accidents,
folds to succumb, head down, knee deep in the ground.
It is written one, two, three,
survival of my sanity against the liquid threat
unheard of triumph, big headlines in the press, mourning on paper.
Mom, me giving you my back I kept counting hidden behind the counter.
In front of the mirror, with outstretched hands
whilst the blood of your blood dripped until reaching fourteen years.
Be happy now that over the kitchen tiles
your daughter points her way, draws her map.
Tricks of science fiction to divert me from the celestial path.
Aren’t you glad now that I dream about looking for new happier lives whilst I count how long do I have till everything ends?
One, two, three,
up to fourteen drops on the ground rejoice the sad and dark heart.

When I job hunt, when I channel my life,
I will specify in my resume that I exist seven times.
Big eyes, long nails nailed on wood,
hedgehogs on the back, so that no one hurts me.
A balance of memories,
on the left, you refuse to believe in the truth,
on the right, you hug the teddy bear
when mom turned the light off banging the door.
That’s how it sounds when it’s true, for example, this pain.

I can’t forget what my life has been like.
To pronounce serotonin or to become another one,
periodic conversations with new friends,
visits to the bathroom, to collapse.
My life consists of several strange people who share problems.
My life was gone by breathing small chemical substances,
like Russian dolls, closed heads that torture my throat
versus open stomachs full of good intentions.
In my second life, I stopped crying,
every night I saw myself counting my fourteen years with my back to Mom.
I'm a scared baby,
my heart a two star hotel,
I try to get used to live without the echo,
I sleep peacefully, I dream of the twenties.
In this third life,
I write poems, I sleep in hotels
I embark on relationships with no future
A normal person, or so they tell me,
my wicked heart has calmed down.

Our Finitude

"With his death I learned something that philosophy could not read or understand. That our finitude, the human finitude, is not our mortality. That we are not finite when we die, but when we feel impotent and dragged by the inertia of what we don't want to live".

People who take off your masks

There are people who take off your masks,
The masks behind which we hide from the heartbreak of daily life,
People who are Temples where the laws of nature take their course:
Hunger,
Rage,
Passion,

(You were banging the walls from inside your silver cube and I knew it was because of the Universal disaster, because it hurts. That's why we looked at the pain face on, that's why I sometimes don’t understand beauty. That’s why when I looked inside myself it felt like looking at the void from a cliff. Because of the years I spent putting on masks at parties. That's why the high-heels, that's why the elite Universities. For, approximately, not to exist).

People who take off your masks are visceral cycles without manners.
They smell of guts and of how things smell when one is alive.
When one feels alive,
Where “The life”,
Yes, where “The life”.

You can recognize them by their accent to poetry, by their glass pupils, because once you touch them you smell of their being forever, and, by their planet:

A planet inspired in Klimt and Tarkovsky
Where it’s always full moon,
With golden skies and forests of black trees and blood geysers,
Full of mirrors,
With lamps of salt so that the ritual of the circles can free you from the mundane suburban neighbourhood from which you came.

(I swear that I try to find the meaning to life with all my strength, which is not nihilism. Your back was red because the candle wax was thrown over you when it burned the most. You lying on your stomach on the dark soil, by the charcoal, in the burial of the dead. The revelation that others are also in pain for being alive is what makes me connect with beauty).

There you were, in the depths, at a dance party without masks, waiting for me behind the fire, looking at me from your glass pupils,

Talking to me,

In conversations that are games of mirrors,
That sometimes sound like broken glasses
Because the great truths are spoken in sharp cuts on the skin.

(And now what? Now, we get into Pina Bausch’s mind, we sing to a microphone while we breathe, with a saxophone in the background. Then, we make a dress out of red balloons and we puncture them. We also dress up, on gauze and silk long dresses, with our hair down, and, we throw buckets of water at each other at the rhythm of a piano and a guitar. Do you see now how happy we are dancing a tango with the mane in the air? Have you seen how fun is to slide down a plastic slide in the mist of a cascade of bucket water whilst a sea lion walks beside us? Then, we dance Portuguese samba on a beach with an electric blue light, full of watermelons. And, we feed watermelon to the chickens).

Now,
the beauty,
Not the beauty of flowers,
Not the beauty of babies,
Not the beauty of white dresses,
But beauty in raw, the beauty of the confessions of the things we took from under the carpet,

(We are awake because we know of destruction and despite of that we crossed the muddy river until we reached the shore where our dreams were. The shore of laughter. Where, finally, we allowed ourselves to laugh without guilt. That’s why, when you took off my Mask I was full of life, full of life, full of life, full of life).

Now, I can stand in front of any mirror, arms wide open and say:

My life is not a lie,
My life is not a lie,

My life is not a lie,
